The key to successful heating for your patio is to install enough heaters of the right power output and
type. We include guidelines for mounting heights and the size of area you can expect to be heated on our products pages.
A 1.3kW Weathersafe™ patio heater, mounted at a height of 2.2-2.5m will generally serve an area with a table and seating for four to six people.
One of these is usually fine in a domestic situation. Two 1.3kW patio heaters or a single 2kW heater will provide better coverage and greater comfort for larger outdoor seating areas. The diagram below relates to 1.3kW patio heaters.

In theory, in perfectly still open air,
SunSwitch infrared heaters should be comfortable to sit under
in temperatures as low as 7-8° C. However, air is rarely still
and we find that, outdoors, the heaters work very effectively from about
12-13°C. In other words, from spring to autumn.
Mounting your SunSwitch infrared heaters under
an awning or parasol will tend to trap some of the warmth, making
them feel warmer (so heat regulation may be required). Similarly,
providing protection from the wind, for example with Terrazzo terrace screening will greatly increase comfort levels.
