Hard to heat buildings Quartz Halogen infrared heaters are ideal for buildingswhere it would not be practical or cost-effective to provide comfortable conditions by raising the air temperature. This includes poorly insulated buildings such as workshops, industrial units, garages and warehouses. In many such buildings, if you warm the air, for example with fan-assisted heaters, the warm air will rise to the ceiling where it is of little use to occupants. In this diagram of a tall building, warm air has risen to the ceiling, leaving occupants literally in the cold. This unpleasant effect can occur in buildings just a few metres high. Moreover, if a building is too 'leaky', any warmed air will simply escape. And, if the building is used only intermittently, it can take hours or even days to take the chill off. Warm air at ceiling height is not only useless for people at ground level, but it can cause condensation to form on the inside of the roof and roof lights which can lead to dripping Similarly, where it is necessary to have doors open much of the time - for example in loading bays - warm air will simply escape through the open door. Energy wastage can be reduced by installing plastic curtains, but it cannot be eliminated. The solution is to install SunSwitch Quartz Halogen infrared.
