Conservatories
are wonderful living spaces, but they are notoriously difficult
to heat. When the air is warmed by radiators or convector heaters,
for example, the hot air will rise to the roof, where it is useless
and wasted. And if you use your conservatory only occasionally,
it can take hours just to take the chill off. In really cold weather
you may end up not using it at all, which is a real shame.
But there is a solution, which will allow
you to get the full benefit of your conservatory whenever you
feel like it. SunSwitch Quartz Halogen heaters work instantly
and deliver amazing comfort levels in seconds, even in a stone-cold
building. This is possible because our heaters produce short wavelength
infra-heat that cuts through the air to warm objects, rather than
the air itself. Just like the sun. The most natural form of heating
known to man. And its kinder to plants, too. Not only will your
heaters look good, but with low running costs (from as little
as 9p per hour depending on model) you will be able to enjoy your
conservatory all year round. Which is what you wanted it for!

How should SunSwitch
heaters be installed?
SunSwitch heaters should be mounted between c. 2.1m and 5 m height
(depending on model) and angled downwards at approximately 45°.
For more information please view the product specifications on
the products page. Heaters
can be mounted easily on any available wall or suspended from
above. In some situations it is worth installing SunSwitch heaters
above external doors as they make sn attractive, very economical
alternative to a door curtain heater.
How many heaters will
I need?
Usually, we find our heaters are about twice as effective as other
types of space heater for any given power. Typically, a 1.5kW
heater will provide comfortable conditions in a 6 x 4m conservatory
whereas you might need 3kW of convected heat. However, performance
does depend on the design of the conservatory, type of glazing
etc. And if you plan on having the doors open all the time, you
may need more heat.
Can I control the temperature?
Temperature control is usually advisable, because the heaters
are so powerful. We strongly recommend the use of our VR1 Voltage
Regulators for complete control and energy savings when the heating
is turned down. We do not generally recommend the use of thermostats
or PIRs.
