Choosing the right heaters for your terrace or pub beer garden

SunSwitch infra red quartz halogen heaters provide warmth from the moment you switch them on. You don't waste energy or time waiting for them to warm up, so you only turn them on when you actually need to. Our heaters run off ordinary mains electricity and costs only a few pence an hour to run. And unlike gas patio heaters, there is no ongoing maintenance to worry about.

Heater choice
All of the heaters we sell for al fresco use are safe for year round use outdoors. Please note that not all quartz halogen heaters advertised on other websites for outdoor use are electrically safe outdoors! You could put your business and customers at risk if you do not use weathersafe heaters.

Our most popular outdoor heater is the SunSwitch Weathersafe™ 1.3kW model. This is used in pub beer gardens and oon reatuarant terraces across the UK. Protected by a tempered glass front and fully sealed, its IP54 rating means that SunSwitch Weathersafe™ is completely weatherproof and can stay out all year round. The glass front also means the safety risks associated with exposed heat sources are not present. The Philips element in this heater is user-replaceable and last for up to 3000 hours.

We also supply some fabulous heaters without glass fronts which are safe for use outdoors. The elements in these last a lot longer - up to 5000 hours, However, the elements are more expensive and are not user-replaceable .

What about running costs
Running costs are extremely low. If you know the unit price of your electricity (shown on your electricity bill) it, e.g. 7.5 pence per kilowatt hour) it is very easy to calculate the hourly running costs. Simply add up the total kilowatts of all of the heaters to be installed, and then multiply this by the unit price N.B. you can reduce this further by installing voltage regulators, such as the SunSwitch Comfort Controller.

Are you by the sea?
If you are located on the coast, it is advisable to make sure that the heater you select will resist the corrosive effects of salt air. We are pleased to advise on this and can even adapt some heaters with stainless steel fittings to maximise their operating life. Please telephone for advice.
